The Young Health Programme

AstraZeneca's global disease prevention initiative

The Young Health Programme (YHP) is AstraZeneca’s global disease prevention programme, focused on preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) — including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease — by educating and activating young people to make informed health choices and reduce their future risk of disease.

Delivered in partnership with more than 60 non-profit organisations — including UNICEF and Plan International — the Young Health Programme operates in over 40 countries, with a strong focus on young people in underserved communities.

The programme brings together community programmes, advocacy, research and youth leadership to drive impact.

Building inclusive, community-based education and training programmes that empower young people with knowledge and skills to help them make informed health choices for longer and healthier lives.

Championing advocacy initiatives that put NCD prevention and adolescent health on the local, national, and global policy agenda and provide a platform for the voice and leadership of youth to be heard.

The YHP invests in research to address youth health knowledge gaps and inform decision-making in adolescent health.

Through mentorships, fellowships, scholarships, and grants, the YHP nurtures the next generation of youth leaders - social entrepreneurs, researchers, and advocates - who drive sustainable health outcomes.
